President Buhari Says Calling Him Jubril From Sudan Wasn`t A Funny Joke
Some months ago, news
trended on social media that President Buhari Of Nigeria was dead and that a
Jubril from Sudan is the one impersonating President Buhari.
Reacting to this news,
Nigerian President Buhari described the claim that he has “died” and one Jubril
from Sudan is the one impersonating him as a joke that was not funny.
The president gave
this reaction on Friday, December 23 during a documentary shown at a dinner organized
by his family and close associates to celebrate his 80th birthday at
the presidential villa Abuja. This birthday was tagged “Celebrating A Patriot, a Leader,
an Elder Statesman”

According to the president,
some Nigerians always find a way to create humor to feat on something they
don`t understand. He added that the development was the handiwork of some mischief
makers to demonstrate their cheekiness.
When asked by the interviewer if he heard a
crazy rumor some time ago that he was not Buhari he replied;
“Yes!
People said I am somebody from Sudan. I didn’t bother with the name. Nigerians
have mischievous ways of explaining themselves.”
Asked how he finds such jokes passed around, the President
said;
“Is
not funny because those who made those statements, just want to be cheeky. They
want to distract attention from the main issues.''
